Materiality / Design concepts

Materiality / design concepts:

My building consists mostly of reused timber, glass and concrete. I’ve related the use of recycled timber to the type of art works Rosalie Gascoigne constructs (e.g. ‘firebird 1991’). I’ve also created a feature copper pipe piece (which helps unify the three structures) with organic vines growing from it, which ties in with the type of works/themes Fiona hall produces and plays with ( e.g. ‘paradisus terrestris’). The basement studio is constructed with extremely thick glass walls, and after critique from Fernando Menis, I decided to chnage the basement external glass walls to be made of form worked concrete (inspired by menis’ work; ‘MAGMA ART and CONGRESS Adeje Tenerife 2005’) and retain the dividing walls of the basement gallery and studio in the thick glass. I feel I have managed to capture the core ideas and general feel of the three clients. Here is a link to my model in winrar format;
