A: CREATIVE WORKS

killmatik - skeet

This is a portion of graphics I worked on a few years ago, which ended up being used on a number mediums; Perspex displays, t-shirts, a speaker box and post cards to name a few. It consists of elements, which at the time of my life, I felt touched an accord with my way of seeing my own place in society. If your wondering, the image consists of 4 main elements; 1. portraits of Kim Jong-Ill scattered in the background; 2. the red personalised Kanji character of “people” with radiating outlines; 3. a camo green background (which happens to be a texture photo of one of the shirts it was printed on; 4. lesbians kissing (with an emphasis on their passion for one another).

B: A GREAT PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE

Fallingwater - Frank Lloyd Wright

Falling water by Frank Lloyd Wright appeals to me because of its use of simple lines and integration of these simple flowing lines into the landscape. I’ve always had an interest in architecture which is built into natural & weirdly shaped terrain. An interesting point about the design of Falling waters is, although built and designed around the 1930’s, it has a modern/contemporary feel to it. In saying that, other aspects of the building I feel use design principles that are timeless. Like the use of materials that relate to its surroundings, the use of levels which create and divide space. Finally the use of sustainability (in lighting and building orientation). These simple and classic points are why I find this building great.

C: AN ORIGINAL PHOTO OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL

This is a photo of a reflection of light. Unfortunately the quality of the photo doesn’t do what I saw any justice. I took it one brisk morning in an area of my house where the morning sun was hitting the windows. The result was a shimmering reflection bouncing off the wall. The light flickering on the wall almost seemed like it was dancing almost like it was alive. That’s when I came to the conclusion that light plays a hugely important part in the built environment.
